The Lake County Sheriff’s Association was founded and incorporated in late 2012 by employees from all levels of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, as a way for all divisions to gather in a fraternal environment with everyone on the same level. As more and more interest was evident, the Lake County Sheriff’s Association expounded its reach to include the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the Lake County State’s Attorneys Office, and the Nineteenth Judicial Court of Lake County.
In 2012, as a way to raise money for this new association, the Lake County Sheriff’s Association created a “Founding Members” status to anyone that joined prior to the association being incorporated. Founding member status was only available during the inception, and will not be reintroduced.
In December 2012, just a few months after incorporating, the Lake County Sheriff’s Association conducted it’s first annual Shop With A Sheriff program, which provided gifts to underprivileged children in Lake County. Because of the success of this program, the association uses the majority of its donations gained throughout the year to make this event bigger and better every year.
In 2016 due to overwhelming interest from other agencies, the Lake County Sheriff’s Association opened its doors to the Lake County Forest Preserve Police, and the College of Lake County Police.
